We've been on a bit of a writing spree lately, as some of you may have noticed. And it's nice to be back in the swing of things. Next week I move into a brand new office, which should streamline my own personal productivity, even more than it has been in recent months. So there's a lot to look forward to. Although it's getting a bit chilly up here in southern Oregon, it's nowhere near as bad as it was just last year living in New York's St. Lawrence County, so I'm quite grateful for the weather that feels warm at least in a relative sense. I just discovered today that many of the audio players for chillfiltr.com had stopped working on mobile devices since the move to Webflow, so if that's been a problem for anyone, please know that help is on the way. It does look like the audio player is going to get quite a bit more sexy. But I digress.

For the first time really ever, I'm open to Christmas songs and plan on putting a big holiday themed blog post together with a number of music references. So that's going to be in 2 to 3 weeks, and I wanted to clear the slate and talk about some of the fantastic new music that came out in November.

Eastmountainsouth is an interesting selection. That album is perhaps 15 years old now, but I just found my way back to it. I've been a big fan of Peter Bradley Adams ever since being his acquaintance in Los Angeles so many years ago, and his music is featured on CHILLFILTR radio in many different capacities. I think we've got at least a couple of his songs as a solo artist, as well as a number of other side projects. This isn't a side project, as much as it is a proto-project. Certainly, it laid the groundwork for his continued habit of pairing up with fantastic female singers, Down Like Silver being the latest incarnation with the super talented Caitlin Canty.

Leif Vollebekk released his fantastic new album quite a few months ago, but somehow I didn't discover it until now. I've been so much looking forward to this, he is very high on my list for just a huge number of reasons, the new album, entitled "Revelations," does not disappoint. I've chosen to spin the first six tracks from it on CHILLFILTRĀ® radio, because it's that good.

The River South is a band that I started in 2016 when we first moved to Ashland. The summer just prior to Covid, I flew out to Austin, Texas for a couple of weeks to work on the album "Follow the Light" with my good friend Shawn Pander. I've only just gotten around to adding some of those tracks to the rotation. These songs also feature Adam Marcello on drums, who is an old friend of mine and Shawn's, and among many other things was the Music Director for Katy Perry for a very long time, and is currently a professor at Berklee College of music in Boston.

We've got a generous number of fantastic Indie artists with new singles, Ellece and Abby Payne, for example. Just a lot of great music going on right now.

I have not been particularly consistent about this, but I do remember promising that I would look at the numbers every now, and then, just to keep everyone posted. In terms of radio listeners, it's been perhaps a little bit fly lately, but I would say we have a minimum of 40 listeners, and typically a maximum of 90 or 100 listeners, per day, but with a very high average listening time. And it is completely International, due to our relationship with TuneIn and Live365.

The Numbers

My next point of order is to get onto my local community radio station. We are lucky enough to have a very solid community radio presence here in Ashland, Oregon (KSKQ), with a relay station up in Medford. That puts the combined coverage to way north of 100,000 potential listeners at any given moment. The best part of living in the Rogue valley is that everything is so close together. If I can convince them to give me a weekly show at some point in the future, then it will be very easy to jump in and make that a part of my schedule because my office is no more than 15 minutes away by car, even on a bad day. I would love to give that value back to the artists that I work with. I'd love to be able to say that I could spin your new release on my weekly radio show here in southern Oregon. So keep your fingers crossed for me. :)

That is it for now. Stay tuned for a holiday themed music. Post in about three weeks from now. Enjoy the holidays.
