We've written about Thomas Lemmer before — here and here. I even used a clip from this album — "There You Will Be Free" — for a web story earlier this year. If there was such a thing as a permanent sunrise, over the beach in Mallorca, it might sound something like this. Waves of soft pads on the synthesizer, electric piano, and shimmering reverb, together create a soothing atmosphere of beautiful tranquility.
Thomas Lemmer has been slowly gathering a significant following in the Electronic/Ambient space over the last few years, and the release of "Ambient Nights" marks another turning point in his impressive career — with dozens of releases and multiple appearances on exclusive Chillout and Electronic compilations all around the world, his star has been rising for the better part of a decade. His music has been featured on the iTunes Electronic Top 10 in Germany and Switzerland, and is played worldwide on countless analog and digital radio stations.
"Ambient Nights" explores the world of spherical, beat-less sounds, and builds on Lemmer's expertise with the nuance of sonic texture. Mixing studio technology with found sounds from a field recorder, he juxtaposes natural tones with arpeggiated intervals, thick layers of harmony, and a theme of tranquil hypnagogia. The result is an album of 11 songs that oscillate together as a single organism, delivering an experience of pure relaxation that is nothing short of mesmerizing. This album is perfect for a yoga session, a morning of spiritual serenity, or just curling up on the couch with your favorite book.
Take some time for yourself, close your eyes, and come along on the journey. — Thomas Lemmer
Featuring vocals from Valeska Rautenberg, Ambient Nights is out now on Sine Music.
