Ava Valianti - Laugh Track

Captures the weight of constant self-awareness, and pokes more than a little bit of fun at the way we take ourselves so seriously in this modern digital world.

With a solid production aesthetic, a dry and intimate vocal mix, and an acoustic guitar blazing the trail for this feel-good midtempo pop jam, Ava Valianti shows off her effortless Joni Mitchell-style falsetto and her exceptional lyricism. "Laugh Track" stays light and goes by quickly, with some beautiful background vocals and a tremolo-ed Wurlitzer that feels right at home next to the twangy guitar. Through references to The Truman Show and How I Met Your Mother’s Ted Mosby, Valianti captures the weight of constant self-awareness, and pokes more than a little bit of fun at the way we take ourselves so seriously in this modern digital world.

Ava Valianti is a 15-year-old singer-songwriter from Massachusetts who is hitting an early stride in recent months. Her music has aired on over 130 radio stations nationwide, earned her two New England Music Award nominations, been named Runner-Up in the 21st annual International Acoustic Music Awards (IAMA), and landed her on a number of major local showcases. "Laugh Track" feels authentic and self-deprecating, while also exploring the fairly modern phenomenon of living an almost exclusively vicarious existence through the use of media as a social proxy.

When I turn on the TV
In the flaws, that’s where I see me
All their shitty behavior
Makes me feel like less of a failure
