Whimsical Dream-Pop. - Listen to The Day: Grow

On their new single Grow, Dutch production duo The Day craft a mid-tempo pocket from synth pads and live drums, along with some clean electric guitar. It’s a smooth, reverb-laden lead vocal, and a hook that emerges immediately from the chorus.

The simple structure, the beautiful melody, the percussive riff from the guitar, all contribute to an easy sense of flow. When the dreamy vocal reverb rises up during the chorus, we feel that meeting between sadcore, shoegaze, and indie-electro. You could be on a dance floor, circa 1985, with your eyes on a human prize. Grow, the verdant new single from The Day, has a retro vibe that is looking straight ahead.

Laura Loeters and Gregor Sonnenberg alias The Day are a duo that not only admits their differences, but celebrates them with indulgence.
