It's a dry drum groove, a busy bass line, and matching drone note on the keyboard, that does a great job of driving this beat straight down the middle. The use of a female vocal over the second verse brings an element of surprise, and the production tricks in use here borrow equally from EDM and 80's pop throwback influences.

The lead vocal is melodic in a sort of Adam Levine way, but the beat-making borrows more from Daft Punk or even a Maggie Rogers. It's a interesting melange of electronic and artificial tones, with a feeling of forward movement, and yes - of falling.
