Nathan Storey - Blanket

Nathan Storey is a singer-songwriter from North Carolina who is dropping a new single this month. "Blanket" is the follow-up to 2024’s Daylight Sessions, and finds Nathan exploring the metaphor of 'not being wrapped up too tightly,' with lyrics that open a discussion about the damaging effects of inner dialogue. Sometimes, when our self-speak touches on an unhealthy obsession with comfort, we sacrifice the larger sense of well-being for a momentary sense of emotional safety. This is the emotional quicksand that we were born to rescue each other from.

But that won't keep me from trying
To keep you, keep you from sighing
For when I caught you lying to yourself
You were wrapped in a blanket
You were half on the couch
And it felt like a statement
Falling out of your mouth

Nathan Storey writes honest songs that illuminate the highs and lows of life. He has played up and down the East Coast at notable venues like Rockwood Music Hall in NYC, the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC, the River Arts Festival in Jacksonville, FL, and The Evening Muse in Charlotte, NC. He is a Charlotte So Far artist and played the inaugural show in 2025 which sold out 3 times over.

"Blanket" is a beautiful, ballad style paean to the intricacies of romantic complication, and the invisible work we do in tending the emotional garden of another.
