Eliz is a 13-year-old indie singer-songwriter from San Francisco, and I've been listening to her latest single "Losing Oxygen" for the last couple of days now. For such a young artist, you might be surprised to learn that this is a preview release from her second album, Cabin 232, to be released later in the year, inspired by an unforgettable summer that she spent at a camp for singer-songwriters.

"Losing Oxygen," a nostalgia-driven song, provides a good showcase for the vocal talents of this young star. With a light, but effective touch on the vocal harmonies, the emotional climax of the chorus callback is on point. And the theme is evergreen: not all relationships are meant to stay together. Maybe love is a journey, not a destination.

As the days move fast
I thought you would change
Maybe you wouldn't be the same
But I was wrong
Boy I was wrong
Cause you haven't changed at all
