Neal, aka Wave Collector, likes to record sounds with a Zoom H1n recorder and then use them in songs–a bit like a modern throwback to the kind of musique concrète I studied in composition school. "I Know You're There" brings this kind of improvisational energy to the world of Electronica and Synthpop, as the mix of fuzzy synth bass and a laid-back drum pocket provides a welcome complement to the soft melody and easy vocal presence. With stacks of vocal harmony, the groove feels equally expressive and intricate, as Wave Collector celebrates the closed system of personal expression, set against a backdrop of natural beauty.
