Vilde, who goes by Thomas Savage in his day-to-day life, is a songwriter and performing artist from Australia. Latest single "Isle" is one that we have been playing quite a lot of at KSKQ. It combines a quirky pop vocal personality with the kind of poetic lyricism that I tend to attribute to writers like Leonard Cohen, but with a deep connection to electronic groove and synthesizer-driven embellishment.

Previously based in Stockholm, Vilde has returned to his beloved hometown of Melbourne to write and record his 7th LP, ‘Qualia at odds’, out February 4th, 2026. "Isle" provides a rewarding glimpse into that upcoming release, and offers an enigmatic mix of live performance and detailed sequencing as Vilde brings his unique sensibility into the world of indie electronic. I am enamored by the virtuosic performance on the electric bass that is further reinforced by a very musical backdrop that is seething with elements of percussion and contrapuntal synth melody. This is my favorite kind of music: with a very defined point of view that invites the listener to a state of deep introspection.
