VAN STEE - Here Comes the Fire

The vocals seem to reminisce at the high-throaty nuggets of a Thom Yorke, while the affect and color of the music wind around the same modern Indie-Rock road together.

This is a slow clap moment; Van Stee has codified hipsterism, its sound and feeling, into the palpable savory cookie of a band video. The vocals seem to reminisce at the high-throaty nuggets of a Thom Yorke, while the affect and color of the music wind around the same modern Indie-Rock road together.

It's completely mesmerizing; I am both pleasantly surprised and slightly disturbed at the ability of this song and video to capture something so authentic inside a block-color stop-animation. Maybe we all live in that world now, where everything is beautiful but nothing is real. At least we still have the music.
