The People The Poet - Kids on the Corner

It's an anthem-y rasp like Bryan Adams with the Edge on guitar and a band sound like U2's War. The lyrics wax poetic about the limited temporal nature of all things that are loved. But more than the lyrics is that Boys of Summer kind of wistfulness, the washed out echoes of the the clattery floor tom bouncing back from the edges of a memory. The piano feels like little waves against a shore. The lyrics are less of a centerpiece than they are a recurrent and effective literary device used for punctuation.
Kids on the Corner, the newest release from The People The Poet, features a pained but beautiful melody with a lot of acoustic guitar picking, some piano, and a pair of giant boots climbing giant indie rock steps into the sky.
The People The Poet (South Wales, UK) are following up their 2013 release of The Narrator with this year's A Short Obsession With Time.
