Dublin-based The Murder Capital are currently invading the indie rock venues of Europe with their IDLES meets Joy Division style of post-punk. They will soon be moving on to a 3-week US tour that includes a spot at Coachella in April, sharing the bill with legendary math-rock outfit Foals.

This live session at Tapetown Studios is a raw example of their stormy live-performance energy, and the palpable musical chemistry between members that feeds off of equal parts rage and grief. This dark and distorted quintet (comprised of James McGovern, Gabriel Paschal Blake, Diarmuid Brennan, Damien Tuit, and Cathal Roper) birthed the band name from the suicide of a close friend, and wrote debut album "When I Have Fears" as a way of processing their collective loss. Also citing the work of photographer Francesca Woodman as a touchpoint for their art, The Murder Capital seeks to match a rare sense of tenderness with the creative power of loneliness, by suspending gloomy poetics over a seething Morris-style drum pocket and heavy guitars. With an aggressive, no-holds-barred vocal style that might remind you of Joe Strummer, The Murder Capital mixes introspection with solid hooks and fresh energy from the playbooks of post-punk and experimental rock.
