Young pop phenom Tate McRae got her start as a dancer. Since featuring as a finalist on So You Think You Can Dance, she was subsequently named YouTube’s next Artist On The Rise, and released her debut EP "all the things i never said" to near-instant success.
Newest single "don’t be sad" is out now via RCA Records. This track was written by Tate in collaboration with Larzz Principato (Dua Lipa, Halsey) and Jeremy Dussolliet (Anthony Ramos), and highlights her stunning personal evolution as a songwriter. "don't be sad" has already received many top-tier pop playlist adds, including Today’s Top Hits (Spotify) and A-List Pop (Apple Music). Tate recently launched her YouTube channel and her "Create with Tate" music series, and in just over a year, she has over 2.4 million subscribers and over 230 million video views, with over 450 million combined on-demand streams to date. Her star is clearly on the rise, as performances on Ellen and The Teen Choice Awards continue to put her in front of new audiences. She is also the voice of Spot Splatter Splash on NETFLIX’s animated romp "Lalaloopsy."
The music video for this dynamic mix of electronic beats and brooding melody explores a personal limbo of disconnection and uncertainty - as Tate McRae, like her contemporary Billie Eilish, concocts a sensibility that is equal parts macabre and mysterious. With an inky backdrop, lens effects, and a smattering of camera close-ups, we explore the conflicted and manic world of modern pop music. You'll be hearing a lot more from Tate McRae.
