Tablefox - Into Your Eyes

I am constantly impressed by the music coming out of New Zealand. Some of my favorite artists in recent memory have come from the indie scene in Aukland and beyond. Tablefox is no exception, with a heavier edge on the guitar side, a big drum mix, and an obvious reverence for the legacy of modern rock 'n' roll. "Into Your Eyes" explores the idea that no matter how carefully we choose our words, there is always the possibility that our eyes will not be able to hide the truth. In many ways, modern reality is a result of the tension between what we say, and what we feel. This raw and slightly unhinged encomium lays credit for the magic of attraction right where it belongs: in that meddlesome instinct towards personal worship.

Into your eyes I stop the day
Into your eyes I never strain
Into your eyes I have no shame
Into your eyes I give away

Tablefox have had a massive few years as New Zealand's latest alt-rock phenomenon, with a string of successful album releases that have spent the last 4+ years in the top 20 of the NZ rock charts. I would expect that pattern to continue on the strength of this latest single. "Intro Your Eyes" mixes a bit of modal guitar riffing with a powerful drum pocket, resulting in a near-perfect anthem to the kind of relationship that gets us out of bed in the morning.
