With latest single "Do I Wanna Know," bedroom pop artist Sherakai–known as Jordan Sherman IRL–does a great job of putting his personality into the arrangement. With an odd melange of production magic, clever lyrics, and sonic craftsmanship, we are given a fantastic groove made up of certain sounds that I'm not able to identify: piano, bass, guitar, drums; but also other things. I just know that I like it.

Interestingly, most of the pianos, wonky vocals, & guitars were all recorded on an iPhone. It truly goes to show that it's the spark that matters. With an aesthetic that splits the difference between Bon Iver and The 1975, Sherakai delivers an enigmatic jam that fuses hip-hop soundscapes with introspective lyrics. "Do I Wanna Know" is fresh, modern, and fun to listen to.
