Shazam is a Dangerous Drug. Boo!

Shazam is really something I wouldn't have expected: just the sheer accuracy and speed. With possibly billions of data points to compare against, it's so impressive that somehow it happens sometimes in just a few seconds. But I digress. I have the ability to almost immediately identify any song that I am curious about that I encounter in the wild, and I do not take this gift lately. It's just a wonderful thing.

I haven't really gone through the list of matches that I accumulate over the weeks and months in quite some time. So, it makes sense to mention what a great blessing it is to have that sort of access. The only other option used to be to try to remember some of the lyrics, and talk to someone at your local record shop about it. It could take days or weeks sometimes to figure out the song you were trying to get details about. Now it can happen in under 60 seconds from initial impulse to resulting data. What a world. So it's quite a list.

Anyway, the idea is, for someone that doesn't know what Shazam is, it's an app you can install on your phone, & when you hear a song you like and you don't know who it is, you pull out your phone, & you open the app. You press the Shazam button, and as long as the song is still playing, and there isn't too much other ambient noise, and you have maybe 5 to 15 seconds for the match to be able to occur, most of the time you can get an accurate match on who the artist is, and what the name of the song is.

So here's my list for the last few months of artists I was curious about:

Keep those submissions coming!

The TuneIn Partnership is going well. I am hearing from other artists that the spins are showing up in their monthly reports, and the best thing about being on our playlist for CHILLFILTR® radio is that most of the rotations are more or less permanent. So, other stations will put you in rotation for a few weeks, or play during a certain show. What we do is insert you into the constant shuffling, which means you'll see slow but steady spin numbers for months and in most cases years to come. That's one of the many ways that we just do things slightly differently.

I mentioned it before, but it's worth saying it again: you may see that things look a bit differently around the site at chillfiltr.com over the last few months. I've rolled out a whole new version of this site and we are now hosted on webflow. We should be rolling at new features a bit more quickly now.

Happy Halloween to those of you who celebrate.
