The raw emotion of Shannons vocal delivery exposes the bittersweet beauty of his lyrics, and might just have you hugging your loved-ones a little bit tighter tonight.

Shannon Clark & the Sugar is a unique musical project that combines the raw emotion of a singer-songwriter with the somber storytelling of country music and the grit of a soul band. Drawing inspiration from a diverse range of artists from Marvin Gaye to Willie Nelson, this alt-country group hails from a rural farming community in Greenville, Ohio.

After losing his daughter to a rare heart condition, Shannon Clark suddenly felt at home in the small town that had once felt suffocating. Married to the drummer Brittany Clark, when they experienced that loss together, Shannon wrote about how his life was never the same; "Carry Me" tells the story of that sudden tragedy. This family-band came back together after a time of reflection, with the addition of Shannon and Brittany's eldest daughter Navie Clark on vocals, and Nashville favorites Jerry Hughes on keyboards and Mike Howard on bass. The raw emotion of Shannon's vocal delivery exposes the bittersweet beauty of his lyrics, and might just have you hugging your loved-ones a little bit tighter tonight. Be glad for every moment you have together.

Shannon Clark & the Sugar recorded their latest album "Carry Me" with legendary producer Jeff Smith. This song is featured on our Roots Collection playlist.
