Radio Adds for the Month of March.

Spring is here and the music is still flowing.

I mentioned last week that the situation around here has changed quite a bit. I've been trying to keep up with my own schedule, but it's just not working. The little time I have left is spent mostly with my family, and—as usual—this weekend I just didn't accomplish as much as I wanted. But you will all just have to be a little bit patient with me. Thankfully, the music is flowing in as well as ever, and I've got lots of great options for new songs to put up on CHILLFILTR Radio.

I've been getting messages about people that want to buy their way onto some of the CHILLFILTR playlists, mainly on Spotify but also Apple Music, and it's worth mentioning here in an official way: the current pay to play lansdscape for streaming is not ok with me, and I have no interest in participating in such games. I think buying your way onto a playlist, and on the flipside, charging for features on a playlist under your control, completely undermines the fragile ecosystem that we have in place with regard to personal curation. There has been and will always be a large component of music listeners that do not have the time or patience to do research on their own, and they deserve to have access to honest curation from third parties. There was a time that I remember when you could count on your local, terrestrial radio personality to bring songs to their audience that they personally felt connected to. What I do here is perhaps a futile and inadequate replacement for something like that, but my heart is certainly in it. The only way to be featured here is for me to like your song. The end.

I am still working on a more streamlined pipeline for your submissions. More info about that is here. Once the new platform is ready, we will transition all submissions over, but for now you can continue to submit from this page. I appreciate all the songs that you are sending to us, and I listen to every one of them, although I cannot share every one of them and the volume is too high for me to respond to anyone individually. That's one of the problems that I'm solving with the new platform rollout: soon enough you will be getting automated emails from the system, whether or not we share your song at all.

After three weeks at the new job, I can say that it is a good fit for my skill sets, and overall working as an IT Analyst is a great opportunity that I would be a fool to miss out on. It just means that I have to be a little more patient with myself in terms of the timelines that I set, because I just have much less free time to devote to my other projects. That being said, the fire still burns: I am as passionate as ever about shining a light on great new music. I've got an amazing family, a fantastic place to live, and more than 50 acres of land to invest in over time by planting trees, perennials, and edible plants. I'm also exploring the idea of creating a small music festival for next year (2023). Our property has a beautiful view of Black Lake and I'd love to be able to leverage my CHILLFILTR connections to build a weekend of fantastic indie music for a small group of music lovers. Now that I have a steady income, all of that becomes much more possible.

Anyway, as always there was a lot of great music that came through in March. It is a smaller list than last month but it still packs a punch. One of my personal favorites Max García Conover worked on a collaboration with The Ballroom Thieves which I think is fantastic, Anna Shoemaker has a new album that is exceptional, as well as CHILLFILTR fave talker who dropped her latest EP "In Awe of Insignificance" which you should buy right now.
