With a moving performance between piano and string quartet, Peridot gives us an ode to the passage of time. There are so many things every day that don’t get to choose, which is why having the right partner by your side can make all the difference.

At its core, this song is about giving thanks for all of life - the mistakes, the interruptions, and the improvisations - and remembering the people that helped us make sense of it. The counterpoint of the string arrangement couples with the classical element from the piano performance, and we are left with a bittersweet retrospective about family and friends moving in and out of perspective.

Fleeting, drifting away
We're leaving as fast as we came

Fleeting, the latest from Los Angeles duo Peridot, is a gorgeous token of gratitude for the constant spark that is romantic love: what a blessing it is to grow old together.

The core of Peridot is Hillary Reynolds and Trevor Jarvis, who share vocal duties in the band while Hillary plays piano and mandolin and Trevor plays guitar and cello. Peridot formed in Boston in 2016 and is currently based in Los Angeles. This song is featured on our Rainy Day playlist.
