We've written about Pawl and Discrete before - they are, each of them, talented and successful writer/producers in the electronic indie pop space, and when they work together, great things happen. On their latest collaboration, they pulled in some extra vibes from Ebenezer and Max Wassen, and "5 AM" was written as an exploration of the complicated relationship between love, public intoxication, and sexual intimacy.
With a fat kick drum, hints of deep house, and a party theme that is easy to connect with, "5 AM" delivers an aggressive electronic pop sound along with a production aesthetic that leverages a lean, melody-first mix against layers of slightly psychedelic autotune. The result is a groove-heavy party anthem that can be heard as both a celebration of late-night debauchery, and a condemnation of it.
Pawl is an artist, songwriter, and producer based in Stockholm, Sweden. His credits include high-profile collabs with artist and label owner Lucas Estrada (Loudkult), who has more than 250 million streams on Spotify, and Swedish artist NEIMY, who gained international recognition for her single "Dancing in the Moonlight."
Growing up in an artistic and culturally diverse household and discovering music production at an early age, Stockholm-based electro pop producer Discrete has now reached beyond 65 million total streams, helped in large part last year by the release of his highly-anticipated debut EP EXPLORE.
Boasting a long list of first-class credits that includes Jeremih, Ty Dolla $ign, and A Boogie wit da Hoodie, UK upstart Ebenezer is a prolific songwriter and producer with an instinct for sticky hooks. 2020 saw him drop a number of hot singles, including collabs with Stefflon Don and Lil Durk.
