Dmitrii Riabokon is a music producer based in Bali. His musical journey began in early childhood, through exposure to his father's diverse collection of vinyl records. ØRBITA is his brainchild, a synthwave project that he launched in late 2024 to explore his love for synth music and sci-fi culture. Working from his studio in Bali, Dmitrii crafts music that feels both sentimental and deeply personal.
Latest single "Dusk" layers together a punchy mix of 80s-style drums with a counterpoint of lively analog synthesizers, drawing heavy inspiration from science fiction and the role electronic music has played over the decades as a backdrop for films, books, and video games. With a nod to classic figures like Jean-Michel Jarre, crispy hats and warm retro synth sounds are on the menu, as we enjoy an energetic groove with a hint of nostalgic flavor. What I love most about this track is the sense of movement, as we take in a fictional landscape that feels as colorful as it is futuristic. There is a hint of cinematic energy here: a groove that feels urgent and inevitable, along with a quarter-note pulse that centers the track in real time. The interplay between synthesizers is both intricate and unexpected, as "Dusk" delivers an exciting moment of self possession, watching the universe pass by from the window of our spaceship.

For years, Dmitrii Riabokon worked under the name OctoSound, creating music for videos and online content while experimenting with different genres and sounds.
