Malena Zavala is an Argentinian-born artist and producer based between London and Mexico City. "Saw You Coming" is the lead track from her latest EP MELT, offering a driving beat that merges a mesmerizing shuffle with some beautiful vocal harmonies. With a list of artistic influences that includes Devendra Banhart, Tune Yards, & Feist, Melina's energetic take on ethereal garage rock speaks to her busy past as a self-taught musician and songwriter-producer. Debut album Aliso was self-produced in her parents garage, yielding a few impressive singles (namely, "If It Goes" and "Should I Try"). With some extensive touring across both Europe and the UK, Zavala has captivated audiences with her haunting voice and sticky vocal hooks.
The first release on her new label Paraná Records, MELT is packaged as a small collection of love songs. "Saw You Coming" offers an entrancing look at how the interplay between timing and emotional readiness can influence the very human fabric that romance will paint itself upon. We are enamored by the vocal presence, the beautiful melody, and the sense that this is the honest representation of a soul that yearns for connection.
I was lost in the wrong time
I was searching in all directions
At the end of my life line
I saw you coming for a million miles
