After a move from Los Angeles to Nashville at the beginning of 2019, Maia Sharp has changed just about everything in her life. Her newest single "You'll Know Who Knows You" explicates the unique point of view that extends from a sincere and deep affection, and explores the personal nuances and idiosyncrasies that can become the object of a romantic fascination.
Maia has built a long and impressive career as a songwriter and performer, writing for notable artists including Bonnie Raitt, The Chicks, Lisa Loeb, Trisha Yearwood, Art Garfunkel, Cher, and Edwin McCain—among many others—even as she has released a number of independent albums over the years. Many of her songs have enjoyed AAA radio success, ranging from 1997's "I Need this To Be Love" all the way to "Willing to Burn" from 2002 and 2015's "Nothing But the Radio." With her latest single, Maia extends her series of critical successes into a 4th consecutive decade.
Combining recent influences like Phoebe Bridgers and Jason Isbell with aesthetic cornerstones Bonnie Raitt and Paul Simon, Maia weaves an intimate vocal performance into a story of new love. Since the beginning of her career, Maia has put songwriting first, taking great care to craft songs that are rich with emotional substance and lyrical complexity. "You'll Know Who Knows You" will engage you immediately with an inviting combination of roots-pop, indie rock, and country soul.
We wanted to milk that sensual angle. [You'll Know Who Knows You] is from the viewpoint of letting someone know that you have noticed everything about them, that you’re really paying attention. — Maia Sharp
