LOVA emerged from Sweden's vibrant pop scene to international acclaim in 2018 with her debut EP "Scripted Reality," largely on the strength of her single "You Me and The Silence," which showcases her truthful, deeply personal, no-holds-barred approach to lyric writing. Coupled with a nod to modern soul, and rhythms that tend to leverage a strong element of swing, LOVA hand-crafts organic grooves to suit her mood. Showcasing a vocal presence that is equal parts sugar-sweet and tough as nails, LOVA tells the story of her life with passion and humor.
Latest single "It's Alright" comes directly from personal experience, blending understated instrumentation with LOVA’s quietly powerful vocals.
I initially started writing this song with someone close to me in mind, someone who was struggling but kept insisting they were fine. But the truth is, I saw pieces of myself in it too. It’s always easier to recognize unhealthy patterns in others than to confront them in ourselves. Whether it’s about them or me, the story is the same - someone smiling through their sadness, convincing themselves they’re happy, until they start to believe it. This song is here to let people know: It’s okay to want more.
P3–Sweden’s biggest radio station–named LOVA's breakthrough single “You Me and The Silence” as its most played song of the year by a Swedish artist, with cumulative streams totaling over 20 million. So she's got that going for her, which is nice.
"It's Alright" combines a sticky bass groove with a funky bit of triangle percussion, leading to a chorus groove drop that sets the scene for the rest of this lively track. The message is simple: sometimes things are not what they seem. But at least we have music.
You say the right things
But I can see between the lines you're writing
Those sweet, sweet lies
But it's alright, alright
