Libby Ember is a young singer-songwriter based in Montreal. Growing up in a musical family, she began vocal training at an early age and has continued to work on her craft for more than a decade. During the pandemic, Libby decided to teach herself guitar, which led to an evolving obsession with songwriting. She draws inspiration from artists like Phoebe Bridgers and Lizzy McAlpine to arrive at an introspective interpretation of folk pop with a focus on authentic storytelling.
Her latest single "I Kill Spiders" explores the intersection of guilt and karma, as we examine the unlikely importance of even our smallest decisions. As a winner of the 2025 Teen Songwriting Competition offered by Overture With The Arts, Libby is committed to investing in her musical future. She will soon begin a university music program, and aims to further refine her sound as she writes from the heart and looks for details from her own life to inform the evolution of her lyricism. We were struck by her powerful vocal abilities, as well as a sense of intimacy that feels almost confessional. We look forward to hearing much more from this rising star.
