We've covered JPson before: he taught himself to play the guitar on the beaches of Cape Town, South Africa, and has invented a musical persona for himself that combines elements of roots and folk with subtle hints of reggae. "For You" is the 1st single off JPson’s latest record "Wolves at War," and it was written in Berlin during last year's Covid lockdown. This sonically-rich celebration of life explores the loving relationship JP had with his grandmother when he was a young boy—and how this bond gave him the support and courage to become the creative artist he is today.

The ukulele is significant because it was the instrument his grandfather use to play when JP was a baby, while the acoustic guitar was the first instrument JP learned at the age of 12, which he used to play for his grandmother on a daily basis. Combined with the earthy sound of double bass, light, percussive drum tones, and a smooth arrangement for horns, JP delivers the expressive and uplifting experience that his Gran would have wanted to hear on her funeral day.

Shaped by the two oceans on the shores of South Africa, and steeped in the culture of surfing and itinerant, peaceful coexistence, JPson’s music offers a timeless, sunbaked infusion of acoustic vibes with quality songcraft, delivered alongside festive and organic grooves.

You gave me your ear for every song I’d create
Even when your days grew old and they turned grey
Your peaceful words still came through to say
That I love you and I will do until end of days
