Jake Huffman has years of touring and production experience under his belt as well an ability to masterfully handle multiple instruments. After founding the band and touring the USA with east coast indie rock favorites McLovins, and composing music/lyrics for the children’s television show Sesame Street, he decided to start his own solo project. Jake enlisted the help of production wizard Andy Seltzer, and in 2019 the result of three days in Los Angeles with Andy marked the debut release of his solo project.
Jake has created a sound that pulls deep from his rock roots and adds a vibrant layer of deeply personal lyrics and emotive vocals, mixing the uniqueness of Arcade Fire with the drive of Tom Petty and the honesty of Death Cab For Cutie. "Just a Little More" explores the feedback loop of life experience: as regrets become lessons and lessons drive us forward with a new lease on life. Jake's battle-tested craft as a songwriter and producer along with his extensive life experience inform this wistful journey into the past, as we visit with a past-positive outlook than many of us can relate to. If only we could go back in time and leverage our current wisdom against the frozen initiatives and tendency towards dispassion of earlier days.
I'm not hiding, I'm not sorry
I'm not violent or controlling
I'm not angry I'm not evil
I'm not who I used to be and
I'm still hungry for adventure
And my songs are never ending
I am open with my feeling
And my heart's where you can see it
Jake’s band McLovins shared the stage with acts such as Blink-182, Jack White, BB King, and The Flaming Lips. In 2010, Rolling Stone described them as "having the ability to harness the musical ferocity of Trey Anastasio, Les Claypool and Stewart Copeland before being able to legally drive a car."
