Something about this just feels tough, and layered, and intricate: I am enjoying this track because I struggle to find a direct reference. This track stands unique in that crowded indie rock space–somehow, there's a subtle reference maybe to Valerie June, and a nod to the post-grunge female rock persona. But most of all, "Main Character Syndrome" from Ginger Winn feels like a breath of fresh air, marrying moody production reverbs with a killer straight-ahead drum groove and a thick, distorted guitar tone.

With a tumbling rock aesthetic that feels gritty and expansive, "Main Character Syndrome" lays out a foundation of artistic self-elevation, a pleading with the universe for a kind moment of serendipity. This is a mantra of preparation, of a warlike commitment to a previously-specified outcome, dressed with the trappings of slowcore fuzz rock. I love the sound, and I look forward to hearing more from this exciting new artist.

Body’s up
My heart is low
The trouble’s coming
That I know
Whispers come
And then I see
You need me
I'm listening
