Christian Lopez is an American singer-songwriter & multi-instrumentalist from Martinsburg, West Virginia. His mother, a music teacher, introduced him to the piano at age of 5 and guitar soon after. He began songwriting in his early teenage years and in 2014 signed his first record deal with Blaster Records. Now at 26 years old, Christian is preparing to release his 3rd full length album "The Other Side" and we were lucky enough to hear a preview of it.
Lopez has one of those voices that feels completely natural and effortless as he explores intricate pop melodies that are rooted in the rich traditions of Folk and Americana. "The Other Side," produced by Robert Adam Stevenson (Kelly Clarkson, Marvin Gaye, The Killers) finds Lopez perfectly in his element as "Tanglin" embraces an organic sense of groove that follows directly from his Appalachian lineage and roots-rock pedigree. A broad range of influences — touching on the work of David Byrne, Tom Waits, and Johnny Cash, just to name a few — informs the evolution of this young artist that continues to impress with a winning combination of youthful flair and well-rounded creative grit. "Tanglin" exposes the duplicity of modern existence as we discover our own role in the imposition of spiritual limitations. With a laid-back drum shuffle and a clean electric guitar, Lopez meshes the fond memories of a past love with the hard lessons we earn from a life of beautiful mistakes.
We look forward to the release of his long-awaited album "The Other Side" on Oct 8 from DVG Records.
There's a chain over my shoulder
Tugging time out from my past
I just wanna stand a little taller
I'm getting tired of looking back
You were cold
But we werе warm
Almost every night
Now I’m getting old
But I can't seem to gеt it right
Go ahead go ahead
Break the ties that keep on tangling
Go ahead go ahead
Break the ties that keep us here
