Catch the Rise, a music project from American producer and composer Britt Barker, is currently releasing music with High Vibe Records based in Nevada City, CA. Latest release "Soda and Lime" got its name as a wink to "Gin and Juice"—as Barker got older and quit drinking alcohol, his go-to drink became club soda and lime.

With the jukebox sound effect, Barker gives us a sense that we are discovering this song in an old diner, with modern electronic vibes emanating from an old set of speakers. Having found the vocal sample in a trap sound pack, Barker mixed it up and processed it out, pairing the chant with downtempo beats and a delay-heavy guitar tone that brings in some retro-pop flavor. The result is a sumptuous instrumental track that mixes elements of chillwave and indietronica, delivering a fun journey through some fresh musical territory for this west-coast artist.

When I was in high school, there was a cover of Snoop Dogg's "Gin and Juice" by a band called The Gourds and it was the best party song—so many good memories with that song. I wanted to make a track that was fun and had a similar uplifting way about it - something that would stick with you. — Britt Barker
