Brandon Calano is a singer-songwriter who writes and performs under the alias Becoming Young - a name he says "represents the journey to let go of everything we are not, so we can become who we were meant to be all along." This Colorado native moved to Nashville in the summer of 2019 to pursue music, and his new "single" Reverie starts the new year with a blend of acoustic pop and folksy infatuation.
Framing a personal epiphany around the rediscovery of love, “Reverie” is one episode in a program of many singles to come that will span a larger narrative. Becoming Young promises to detail each moment of the winding saga with cover liner notes that share the stories behind the fumbles and steps toward, away, and back to love. Taking on the theme of a 'messy millennial romance,' this series of singles will dish many glorious details, starting in that post-breakup sweet spot of reeling from a complicated breakup, and beyond a hookup with that 'enigmatic' friend of a friend. "Reverie" delivers an inspired journey of new love, from bouncy acoustic guitar riffs through the start of something unexpected and a little bit reckless.
When she looks at me
The world just slips away
And I know we could be something
If I wasn’t hiding
And she wasn’t running away
While touring through Seattle in 2019, Calano met with producer Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Vance Joy), and the pair quickly began working on several cuts from Becoming Young's winter 2020/21 record, The Songs I Wrote You.
