Last month Alisa Amador released "Together," the latest track from her new EP "Narratives," which comes out on Friday. This gorgeous track showcases Amador's impressive vocal ability with a hint of the classic virtuosity of Joni Mitchell — as she combines an arrangement for strings with layers of vocal harmony, an unforgettable melody, and lyrics that call out the scourge of systemic violence.

With this release on Label Logic, Amador follows up on her debut 3-song EP "Red Balloon / Milonga Accidental." Her music exposes the transformative power of an acoustic guitar paired with thought-provoking lyrics and a natural, effortless vocal timbre. With her new EP, Amador takes a deep look at the emotions of someone stumbling through life in two languages — English and Spanish — and in many states of mind about it all. The use of the word 'narratives' is meant to encompasses not only the cultural messages that hurt people on an individual level, but also the life-changing power in all of us to write new narratives and reject a culture of fear as we work towards catalyzing a culture of honesty, bravery, and self-love.

Alisa’s crystal-clear vocals successfully camouflage her extensive technical abilities, as her songs flourish in the rich middle-ground between folk music, jazz, and acoustic pop. This fluent and diverse musical aptitude comes as no surprise: Alisa's parents, Rosi and Brian Amador, founded and co-lead the Latin Folk band Sol y Canto. She and her twin brother grew up touring extensively with their parents and their band throughout their high school years. While she notes it was not always a glamorous existence, much of her childhood was spent backstage watching incredible music in an intimate and communal setting. Her time spent immersed in Latin folk mixed with jazz provides a vibrant underpinning from which her personal aesthetic will continue to emerge.

"Narratives" was produced by Daniel Radin and focuses primarily on the raw power of Alisa’s live set, exposing listeners to the kind of introspection and catharsis that — often in the same song — might make you laugh and cry. This empowering and bittersweet 6-song EP is nothing short of stunning as Alisa continues a lifelong process of looking for clues to a more just and loving future.

This song acknowledges all the pain and celebrates the revolutionary power of friendship in the face of all those odds. Perhaps the world will always be breaking. And, it is our purpose on Earth to be putting it back together again, together. If it weren’t for the moments of connection in my life, I don’t know how I would survive this cruel world. — Alisa Amador

All of the people of all of the earth
Each with a reason, a heart and a worth
Some devastate when you're in their way
And dig themselves deeper in hopes that you'll stay
Childlike wonders that
Cover up feeling afraid
