Edgy Indie Pop from Los Angeles. - Aaron Taos x Lonely God x Huron John - Control (Remix)

A mix of straight drum groove and surf guitar brings to mind the early days of New Wave, while the melody and vocal mix shoot straight for the heart of modern lo-fi pop.

This is the 4th song we've covered for Aaron Taos on CHILLFILTR, which is currently the record. This remix of a track from his album "Birthday Boy" is that kind of song. This year it has 'gone viral,' building on the success of his groundbreaking 2019 release. We covered a track from "Birthday Boy" - "Dazed & Amused" - along with 2 other of his singles from that year ("Saboteur" and "Closure").

Aaron Taos, in some ways, channels the quintessential vibe of Los Angeles itself - both ultra-modern and slightly retro, casual-cool, yet stylistically precise. A mix of straight drum groove and surf guitar brings to mind the early days of New Wave, while the melody and vocal mix shoot straight for the heart of modern lo-fi pop. This indie-rock toe-tapper touches on the contradictions inherent in the overlap between society and technology, and functions as a soundtrack to the moment when we collectively realize that we are no longer masters of the machines we have created. "Control (Remix)" was synced in NBA 2k20 and trended on Tik Tok during quarantine by providing the music for more than 10,000 videos, with a subsequent placement on Tik Tok's curated "Featured" playlist. Another point of pride is the fact that this track was spun on Alt Nation by Mark Foster of Foster the People - as one of his favorite songs. In a collaboration with two of Taos' fave new artists - Lonely God and Huron John - this remix makes a great song even better, and belongs on your shortlist for chilled-out indie pop with an edge.
