Spinning his mixes from a flat in New Jersey, Nimzo brings us the lead single from his album Waves, Vibes and Frequencies newly released with Dust Collectors this past weekend. Ambien features a lively jazz sample with a fast walking double bass, and some stabs on piano, which quickly segues into a long vamp on baritone saxophone.

Deftly weaving the deep swing beat from the jazz feel into a straighter and more literal interpretative 8-count yields an interference pattern that is pure gold. This simply feels like a breezy afternoon spent doing something you love. A beautiful arrangement for woodwinds rounds out this grab-bag of musical idioms.
