I am not surprised that Drens is getting some recognition for their song Bicycle Rider. Like many good punk songs it is short, strongly-themed, and memorable, with just enough meat on the bone. It's all energy, drums, and shattered vocals; the chorus refrain serving as a gear itself, twisting, repeating, and snarling while the song arrangement circles around.

Like a good straight shot up the hill, it's over before you know it, leaving just a vague notion of someone flying by on a bicycle, for reasons unknown.

Drens is a surf-punk band from Dortmund, Germany. They are featured on our brand-new High Energy playlist.
