Common Kings - Lock Me Up (feat. Stephen Marley)

Some things have not changed at all in the years of this last generation. Living hand-to-mouth, millions of households with a lack of access to healthy affordable food and good education are in this country alone, in Los Angeles county as in the slums of Kingston where the Wailers got their start. Common Kings get together with Stephen Marley with a reggae drop about doing what it takes to feed your family.

The reason the Marley-defined sound and lifestyle of reggae is thriving today is in part because of Common Kings and their mix of rock, reggae, and island influences, and this collaboration with Stephen Marley is like mixing good weed with a seat in the sunshine. This is a message of the people, for the people; when it comes to talk of being a target of the police, these days almost anyone will do.

Common Kings need no introduction: Their 2017 album Lost in Paradise received a Grammy Award nomination in the Best Reggae Album category and topped the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. This song is featured on our CHILL Angeles playlist.
