At first glance, Amelie Patterson looks and sounds like a tough-girl rocker with something to prove; while that may be true, Tic Tac Blues is anything but just another 12-bar blues indulgence. Musically, it’s not at all a typical blues turnaround; and lyrically, it’s a complex statement about the status quo, and the power that we all need to find a way to keep for ourselves.

“I know how tall I am
your measurements can’t keep me in”— Amelie Patterson

Patterson stays close to her home community of Banff, and has been keeping busy lately on tour around Canada. Her message of self-empowerment has found a home around the world, with Tic Tac Blues being featured in a video for snowmobile super-star Nadine Overwater. A tumbling drum pocket propels this Americana-flavored personal meditation all the way to catharsis.

Amelie Patterson is a Canadian singer-songwriter based out of Calgary, Alberta. This song is featured on our CHILL NEW Songwriters playlist.
