Alex The Astronaut is a singer, songwriter, and storyteller from Sydney, who shares her new single and music video, "I Think You’re Great," ahead of a performance at SXSW and what will be a busy year of new releases in 2020. Her new single is a shout-out to a cherished friendship, and recognizes the need to check in on one other, making a statement about the importance of supporting our friends when they fall on hard times.

A talented soccer player, Alex Lynn moved from Sydney to New York on a soccer scholarship in 2017, studying Math and Physics at Long Island University. It was while she was in school on the east coast that she turned a streak of new life experiences into a series of bold, endearing folk-pop songs under the name Alex the Astronaut. In the music video for "I Think You're Great," Alex waits tables at a Melbourne café, while the terrible Australian brush fires flash into view on the news channel above. Now signed to Nettwerk Records, so much has changed since just two years ago when she was demoing song ideas in a New York dormitory. Her confessional brand of slacker-rock is both heartfelt and infectious, effortlessly reducing a complicated existence into the essential elements of friendship, artistic inspiration, and genuine compassion. Alex The Astronaut's charming music joins the hook-loving sensibility of Mallrat with the fearless rock-mojo of Liz Phair's Exile in Guyville.

Alex The Astronaut will appear at SXSW, followed by dates with label-mates Didirri and Jack River in Los Angeles (March 24th @ The Bootleg), Brooklyn (March 26th @ Baby’s All Right), and Toronto (March 27th @ The Drake). This song is featured on our Roots Collection playlist.
