Another new addition to the Nettwerk roster, Vacation Manor is an alt-rock band from Virginia. Nathan Towles (vocals, guitar) and Cole Young (drums) stitch together shared and personal experiences into a dreamy amalgam of shimmering guitars and crispy snare hits. The music of Vacation Manor tells authentic half-truths about anything and everything, while latest single "January (Over & Over)" starts with a classic motif on acoustic guitar, and develops further into a shoegaze adjacent 8th-note pulse drone that reminds me of a cross between Elliott Smith and Laveda.

If you listen to the whole record, I hope it’s like watching a movie you relate to. It encompasses our personal tastes and experiences.

At the end of the day, Towles and Young are two musicians who are passionate about their craft, and have been lucky & talented enough to find success early in their career. Following up on their self-titled full-length debut release from 2021, latest 2-track single "Damage is Done" finds Vacation Manor doing what they do best: emoting through a series of folk-adjacent hooks about the intricacies of life, and how we might navigate the challenging experience of being young, smart, and vulnerable, in a world full of surprises. In it's way, this track from Vacation Manor teaches us how to tackle feelings of insecurity and comparison. The lesson is simple: just take it easy.
