SEE NIGHT - Being Good Is Supposed To Be Easy

Drives a straight, midtempo pulse through a forest of electric guitar fuzz, paired with a beautiful and surprisingly fluid vocal performance.

Linda Sao is a singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, who fronts a band called SEE NIGHT that plays indie rock in the SoCal area. Latest track "Being Good Is Supposed To Be Easy" was recorded in just one day in July of last year at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville. This is the first single from an upcoming February release "Just Another Life," which Pavement/Silver Jews's Bob Nastanovich calls "glorious."

For my money, the parallels here run deep between Linda and Indie rock visionaries like Land of Talk, Margaret Glaspy, and Australia's Nat Vazer. On "Being Good Is Supposed To Be Easy," SEE NIGHT delivers a heartfelt commentary on the web of dependencies that can so often complicate the relationships in our lives. The song was written in response to the sudden death of Sao's father this past year, and the subsequent feelings of guilt and unresolved generational trauma she felt as a caretaker and daughter.

By tapping talented contributors like drummer Brad Pemberton and violinist Tania Elizabeth on her new release for next month, Sao prepares to move on to the next step in her artistic development. Whether in isolation, or on tour, "Just Another Life" reflects on the many different ways we choose to define ourselves over the course of a lifetime. "Being Good Is Supposed To Be Easy" drives a straight, midtempo pulse through a forest of electric guitar fuzz, paired with a beautiful and surprisingly fluid vocal performance.

But what do you do, what do you say?
Where do you hide at the end of the day?
When nothing makes you more afraid
Than that timeless debt you can't repay
