NGHTMRE & Big Gigantic - Like That

With the hint of an old-time Tijuana Brass reference, this dance-ready energy blast does not disappoint. After the beat gets broken up with a big trap-style break, we get back to the soul feels and another heavy build.
NGHTMRE seems to like these one-off collaborations, and they are a great way of keeping the dynamics fresh. Not long ago, we were describing the ascent of dubstep as a genre, which seems quaint now. This time, Big Gigantic got tapped for the partnership, which brought in the talents of saxophonist Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken. The focus here, although clearly genre-adjacent to the frantic stylings of Grave, finds more inspiration in the direction of hip-hop and electro-soul.
It’s the juxtaposition of a modern club-sound with the NGHTMARE hallmark: the drop takes center stage. Like That is the animate extension of a dark dubstep vibe into the blissed realm of a cocktail party. Also, horns.
Big Gigantic is a duo based in Boulder, CO whose blend of mind-bending beats, thunderous bass and frenetic melodies has developed a rapid following since forming in 2008.
