Recorded fully live in Bob Harris’s studio in Oxfordshire, "Take This Dance – Live From Under The Apple Tree Studios" is a beautiful new version of UK Americana duo Misty River’s debut single. Currently featuring in the Netflix late-in-life coming out documentary film "A Secret Love," produced by Ryan Murphy (Pose, Glee) and Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Whiplash), this endearing, retro-styled track was previously used in Mat Kirkby’s Oscar-winning short film "The Phone Call" starring Sally Hawkins and Jim Broadbent.
"Take This Dance" is a love song with a sweeping, implied narrative that stretches from original romance through to the treasured memories of an entire life together. A classic roots ensemble of acoustic guitar, double bass, dobro, and mandolin underscores the rawness and the fragility of this ode to a connection between soulmates. A sense of bittersweetness and enduring vulnerability is tucked away beneath a slow triplet, and the live performance aspect of this recording allows the group dynamic to truly shine. "Take This Dance" combines an exquisitely melodic and tasteful squareneck dobro with singer Carmen Phelan's breathy and poignant soprano, and delivers a timeless example of why love is always worth fighting for.
Take this dance with me
Cause you're still the one
You're still the one
When the evening's done
It's the same old one
Like we've always done
When the last bell's rung
Take this dance with me
