We've been in love with Max's music since listening to "Week 71: Home pt. 2" almost 4 years ago now. His raw power as a lyricist matches beautifully with his gritty baritone voice, and he's been treating us to some wonderful collaborations as of late. Building on the success of his 7-day Haley Heynderickx co-writing session in the parched hills of rural Spain, he has joined forces with The Ballroom Thieves, a Folk duo on the Nettwerk roster with a similar penchant for vivid imagery, acoustic instruments, and melancholic rapture.
"mud" mixes personal catharsis with a dollop of hard-hearted indifference, as Max shares vocal duties with Martin Earley and Calin Peters in a way that feels truly effortless. This anthem to emotional resiliency is the first single of his new album “deer”, to be released by the Barcelona based label Son Canciones in May 2022. Max's music has received recent praise and love all around the globe from both press and public, and his star is on the rise. He has made a well-deserved place for himself at that glorious intersection of Folk music, poetry, and valiant life experience with work that is consistently both poignant and eloquent.
i’ve been over all of this
been above or falling in
i don’t know if revelation
is the engine or the racing
i drove all the way to crowns
over wet and heaving ground
i was thinking of the reasons
that you wanted me to see them
like a tree has any meaning
like the empty field is grieving
like the auctioneer is leaving
like i care what you’ve been reading
