Loren Berí is a synth-pop artist based in Brooklyn with an enticing new single "Genesis 2.0." This deeply personal and scintillating track was written as a way for Berí to process the death of his father while honoring his beautiful memory. Although the process of grieving is never quite finished, we can accept this reality and move forward—albeit with a heavy heart.
With a new EP, Loren again office listeners entrance into a fictionalized version of New York City called the Stray Cat Kingdom. Peppered with caricatures of his family and various aspects of his life along with bubbling beats and light, flippant lyricism, Loren brings us on a tour of his flamboyant imagination. "Genesis 2.0" zeroes in on the search for catharsis and closure as it yearns to find meaning in the cycle of life and death.
Boasting talented collaborators like Kishi Bashi, O Mer, and Mauro Refosco, the music of Loren Berí is rich in majestic performance chops and bright rhythms—as we explore a vast, figurative universe of carefree joie-de-vivre and cerebral cross-reference. Berí makes his way through the depths of grief and heartache to learn healing is an eternal endeavor, and that there might just be peace in that realization.
"Stray Cat Kingdom" — a five-track collection written and recorded by Berí, is due out July 20, 2022 and available for pre-order now.
By creating this song, I was letting go of trying to process his death, and accepting that on a deep level I'll never fully be able to fully do that. That grieving at this level of someone close to you, maybe especially from when you're young, doesn't completely end. — Loren Berí
