Lightfoils - This Time Is Up

It’s an immediate sense of urgency, and a haunting trio of overdriven guitar, washy vocal, and fast drums. Something about that guitar style creates visions of infinite space, and coupled with that deep low-passed bass, gets bigger and bigger as the doubled riff takes shape.

Some dynamic shifting takes place, and from the height of that 16th note pedal we fall all the way to earth, riding on a 9-chord. The energy does not disappoint, and the vocal style reifies the dreamy precision that is the hallmark of shoegaze.

The Chicago-based shoegaze/dream-pop band Lightfoils was formed in 2010 with guitarists Neil Yodnane and Zeeshan Abbasi, bassist Cory Osborne, singer Jane Zabeth Nicholson, and drummer John Rungger. This song is featured on our Hi Energy playlist.
