Laveda brings their unique, collaborative vision to an extension of 90s shoegaze, and into the modern spectrum of languid dream-pop.

If Only (You Said No) is the third track by recently announced SXSW official artist, Laveda. This atmospheric love-song reflects the internal conflict of really wanting someone, but struggling to admit it.

Laveda formed in the summer of 2017 as a bedroom recording project founded by Ali Genevich (vocals, guitar) and Jake Brooks (guitar, vocals, synths). This year the duo has made huge growth morphing their songs from a core sensibility rooted in folk and acoustic styles into an overwhelming and full-fledged indie-pop listening experience. We've covered Laveda before, here and here. They have made a name for themselves this year, bringing their unique, collaborative vision to an extension of 90's shoegaze, and into the modern spectrum of languid dream-pop. This powerful song is at once self-defeating and hopeful, as we realize that constructive achievement and self-sabotage are two sides of the same coin.

Laveda is now 4-piece band consisting of new members Joe Taurone (drums) and Dan Paoletti (bass, synths). This song is featured on our CHILL Angeles playlist.
