Swedish collective Kone Mara combines classic indie rock vibes with elements of modern electro-pop on their debut track "The Ordinary Place." Released on the Northbound Stockholm label, the song was written and produced by the trio and mixed by Simon Nordberg – known for his collaborations with Swedish phenoms Kent, Jocke Åhlund, Håkan Hellström, and Theophilus London.
They say all good things come in threes, and Kone Mara is no exception. A poet, a musician, and a technician: three creative souls with three different creative backgrounds found each other by chance.
We met at a breakfast table, and in the early morning hours, a friendship arose. We shared secrets and wrote music inspired by our stories. Coffee, poems, dreams and wishes.
The result is a melodic, groove-driven rock number with a big chorus lift, tasteful vocal harmonies, and a touch of retro cool. "The Ordinary Place" delivers a unique and nostalgic soundscape where organic instruments are accompanied by futuristic synthesizers and crunchy guitar riffs. This exciting debut explores the recursive relationship between everyday human experience and the internal search for an intellectual and spiritual sense of home.
The name Kone Mara is derived from “કોણ મા” which means “for whom” in Mahatma Gandhi’s mother tongue Gujarati. With the name the band wants everyone to know that their music and their message is not meant for one specific audience, but for everyone.
