Alain Paradis is a songwriter based in Austin where he pulls from influences like LCD Soundsystem & Future Islands, as well as 80s post-punk classics like New Order and DAF to build his sound under the pseudonym Holy Wire. He crafts a retro-adjacent pop sound that feels fresh but also just a little bit familiar - the vocals specifically bring echoes of underground chic-rocker Jim Kerr, aka the voice of Simple Minds. "Worse For Wear", the latest single from Holy Wire, reckons with the fallout from a faded relationship. With tested staples from electronic music like drum machines, synthesizers, and a choppy bass sound, Paradis pits melancholic lyrics against danceable synth pop hooks to stellar effect. Behold, the lost classic from your older sibling's summer of debauch.
