We've written about Couchsleepers before—formed in 2019 by writer, producer, and neuroscientist Harrison Wood Hsiang, Couchsleepers unites a sprawling collective of musicians and artists under a single name. Latest single "Valentine's Day" delivers a cynical exploration of the upside involved with being on your own as an ultimately unconvincing note-to-self. Recorded in his one bedroom apartment, this bittersweet song attempts to shine a redemptive light on the disappointing absence of a romantic partner. We are left with the realization that loneliness is often just a simple fact of life.

"Valentine's Day" conveys a delicate and poignant reminder that true love is an invaluable gift, encased in a beautifully-crafted and sparse roots-driven groove that might remind you a bit of Bahamas. Clocking in at under two minutes, this heartfelt exploration of love's long shadow deserves to be remembered as an anthem for those of us that still feel the lingering pain of heartbreak. Here's to hoping that the legend is true: a soulmate could be just moments away, lurking around life's next corner.

Almost met another girl
We stayed up into the morning
All I hoped was she might remind me of you
Guess I oughta quit complaining
Almost made it through the month
I hardly think about you sometimes
Guess today I'll just be keeping to myself
but I'll be thinking of you Valentine's

Couchsleepers made its debut with the nine-track "Only When It’s Dark" in late February of 2020. Their debut tour took them through many colleges (Middlebury, Vassar, MIT), festivals (Nocturne, The Miscellaneous), and venues (Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2, Pianos, ArtsRiot, Once Somerville) before being abbreviated by the COVID-19 pandemic. On the road, Hsiang is joined by frequent collaborators Mike Nunziante, Brendan Ronan, and Max Shashoua.
