Chicken Mama is the folk project of Kasia Kugay, a singer-songwriter and banjo player who recently moved to Istanbul, Turkey from San Francisco, California. "Surrender" is an anthem for the human connection to our own planet earth, and an 'acknowledgment of the overwhelming interdependence of all life, of how our goodness can be found in dark places, and the power in realizing when we are powerless.'

With a driving roots groove and a lyrical style that mixes a reverence for nature with a sharp sense of introspection, Kugay asks her listeners to question fear, to find the source of it, and to surrender to the lifelong pursuit of truth and wisdom. As we throw away a belief system that is tied to consumerism and otherness, we recognize that even the devil is simply a 'fallen angel.' Chicken Mama offers "Surrender" as a direct and tangible connection to the spirituality of rebirth, delivered through a synergy of rhythm and melody that feels both cathartic and restorative.

I am laying myself down
I am laying myself down
So I can open to the knowing that
Lives under the ground
